Laura Bland
Next Step Mentor
Hi, my name is Laura and I am a solicitor. I act for people who have suffered an injury as a result of complications and issues with their medical treatment.
It is my aim to help my clients regain independence, and move forward with their lives.
I attended Aberystwyth University and studied Law before going to Chester Law College. I am originally from Lancashire but moved to Oxfordshire in September 2010 so that I could complete my legal training to become a solicitor in September 2012.
Have you always studied?
During my training, I did take some time out to travel round New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong. I had the most amazing time on my travels (especially the sky diving!) and would love the opportunity to go back in the future.
I live in Abingdon with my long-term partner. We have just bought our first house and at the moment most of our weekends are spent doing DIY!
What else do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a keen runner and love watching rugby, football and tennis. I also enjoy reading, watching the ballet and going to the theatre.
Why do you want to mentor with Meningitis Now?
Meningitis Now is a charity very close to my heart as they provided much-needed support to my best friend’s parents when she contracted the disease at university.
