Can you help us thank our Corporate Donors?

We have many corporate donors who provide essential funding for our research and support activities. We want to say a personal thank you to these supporters, and would love to be able to send them a short video recorded by our volunteers. If you're happy to don your Meningitis Now t-shirt and record a 30 second Thank You message on our phone, please email us and we can give you the details of what to say - it will be a huge help for us!

University Open Days
The upcoming University Open Days are a fantastic time to reach prospective students with our awareness materials.

Since lockdown finished there has been a rise in cases of MenB bacterial meningitis and the MenACWY vaccine that students are given at school at age 14 does not protect them against MenB. It is essential that students know the symptoms so they can keep an eye out for their friends and not just assume that someone has food poisoning or a hangover. Please will you call your local university, ask to speak to the student health team, and arrange a date to set up a stand? Then get in touch with us and we will send you all the materials you need to make it eye-catching and effective!

We're more than happy to talk you through the process - it's an easy and fantastic way of helping our young people learn to be vigilant about this deadly disease.

Presentations to schools, colleges and local community groups
We have a new official, virtual meningitis awareness presentation for our volunteers to give to schools, colleges and local community groups. We can give you technical help for your presentation over Zoom or Teams, and are happy to join you on your presentation to offer you extra support and help with any questions. Please contact us if you would like to find out more about giving virtual awareness-raising talks.

Awareness-raising through social media
At this time of year it is vital that people don't mistake their meningitis symptoms for Covid-19 and self-isolate. We have a range of digital awareness-raising messages we can send you to share on Instagram, Twitter and your own Facebook page. We also have a powerful, five minute movie that you can show before virtual events.

Email us at volunteering@meningitisnow.org or give us a call on 01453 769 033 if you would like any more information, or if you can help. We would love to hear from you and send you materials to use.

Become a Community Volunteer

“I am a passionate believer in what Meningitis Now is doing and about helping to spread awareness of this disease. Sometimes it can be very difficult and very emotional too, but it’s worth it. The respect that goes with volunteering helps make life feel positive.”  Damion - Community Volunteer

“I volunteer in many ways; distributing literature, attending awareness fairs, promoting and assisting with Toddle Waddle events, London Marathon and more. Volunteering is my therapy. I gain so much from it and I always try to be there when I am needed.”  Mary - Community Ambassador
