On Monday our Christmas Concert took place in the magnificent surroundings of St Paul’s Church in London. 200 guests, performers, volunteers and sponsors ensured the concert was a very special and memorable occasion.
The event saw memorable performances from London Soul Choirs and the classical and light music quartet Bowfiddle. The audience was also able to join in energetically for some traditional and popular carols.
We are especially grateful to Lisa Snowdon, our president who was in attendance and gave a moving introduction to the service. Also to Charles, one of our volunteer ambassadors, who shared a poem about his meningitis experience and Gus, another of our volunteers, who gave a heartfelt address near the end of the concert. You can read one of Charles's poems as well as his story here.
While our Royal Patron HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh, was unable to join us this year she wrote a message in the concert’s programme;
“This year has seen the charity continue its excellent progress in funding research, raising awareness and providing support as it moves towards its long-term vision, where no one in the UK dies from meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need.
However, there is still much to do. As the charity’s Royal Patron I share your determination to continue to fight back against this devastating disease. With your wonderful support in the years to come, I know we will get there.
Thank you for everything you have done this year in support of Meningitis Now and we look forward to working with you again next year.”
If you weren’t able to join us this year here are some images which capture the atmosphere of the event.
If you’d like to donate to support our work you can do so here.
And we’ll be back at St Paul’s and Glouster Cathedral for our 2025 Christmas Concerts, so please do join us then if you can.
