“Meningitis changes lives and futures, which is why bringing together families is so important.”

Come along to our next Family Day at UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jodrell Bank, to connect with other families who have experienced meningitis, explore mind-blowing science and get up close to the UK’s largest radio telescope.

Aimed at families with children up to 16 yrs, Family Days offer the whole family a chance to have fun, interact and spend quality time together. There will also be opportunities to meet and chat with Meningitis Now Community Support Officers.

Jodrell Bank, situated in the heart of Cheshire near Macclesfield, offers a stunning green site with an abundance of wildlife. There are four themed pavilions to discover – First Light; Space; Star; and Planet – alongside outdoor exhibits and pathways.

The Family Day North takes place on Saturday 17 May, between 10am and 4pm. Families from across the UK are invited to attend. Registration for the event is now open!

Share your experience and have fun

Paul Blackburn, Community Support Officer, said: “Our Family Days are a great way for those affected by this devastating disease to join together, share their experiences and most importantly, have fun.

“Whether a child in your family has had meningitis or you as a parent or carer have been affected, we would like to invite you to join us and other families to relax and talk with people who understand what the impact of the disease is like.”

Meningitis Now Family Days are free at attend, supported by the National Lottery, and are held in different locations up and down the UK to allow as many families as possible to come along.

Find out about the support available

Family Days are designed to provide parents, guardians or grandparents with the opportunity to meet other local families who have been affected by meningitis and find out more about the support available to them through Meningitis Now.

“We know that the impact of meningitis reaches much further than the individual concerned,” Paul added. “It can have a huge effect on all those closest to them, especially family and friends.

Bringing together families

“Meningitis changes lives and futures, which is why bringing together families with similar experiences of the disease is so important.

“Having a fun day with your family may seem a small thing, but when your family has lived through the trauma of meningitis together, it means so much.”

First come, first served

Family Day places are limited and registration will be operated on a first come first served basis. Meningitis Now will operate a waiting list if the event is oversubscribed.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
