Conquering Mont Blanc to raise meningitis awareness

9th October 2024

Congratulations to Scott and everyone on his team for successfully conquering their Mont Blanc challenge recently.

Mont Blanc

“We want to turn our story into a positive one, raising awareness to save lives.”

Scott from Wales climbed Mont Blanc, Western Europe's highest mountain, to raise funds for us in honour of his daughter, Noa-Rose, who survived meningitis.

And here’s the proof that their challenge was successful, as Scott unfurls one of our Meningitis Now banners on top of the mountain.

Scott’s wife Emma recently shared Noa-Rose’s story with us.

She said: “We want to turn our story into a positive one, raising awareness to save lives.”

“My little girl, Noa-Rose became unwell in December 2022 and we were hit with every parent's worst nightmare.

“Noa-Rose was diagnosed with meningococcal type B meningitis. On top of that she tested positive for whooping cough and flu.

The hardest thing

“Watching her fight for her life was one of the hardest things any parent would have to watch.

“Thankfully she survived, but she didn't make a full recovery and has now been diagnosed with epilepsy as a result of meningitis. She is still young, so we are unsure what other impacts her meningitis will have on her.

“We were struggling to come to terms with her illness, life after meningitis and the disability she has been left with until a friend suggested we reach out to Meningitis Now.

“Meningitis Now has been a lifeline to our family and stand beside us throughout the journey we now find ourselves on. The impact they have had on our lives and the lives of others is breathtaking. We really would be lost without their support, advice and knowledge of meningitis.

Forever grateful to Meningitis Now

“They have helped turn a difficult time into a bearable time and we are not the only family that will forever be grateful for them. From listening to our concerns and offering reassurance to just being there when we’ve needed a friendly chat.

“Without the team at Meningitis Now our daughter would have died. I say that because without the research they fund and support there wouldn’t be any vaccines to fight this awful illness.”

Scott told us: “I wanted to give something back to Meningitis Now to help support their research and enable them to continue the amazing work they do in supporting those affected by meningitis.”

So far his efforts have raised nearly £2,000. If you’d like to add to the total visit his fundraising page.
