Alison N's Story
Alison, 33, from Hawkinge in Kent, fell ill with memory loss, confusion and tiredness in February. A lumbar puncture confirmed meningococcal meningitis and she spent the next three weeks in hospital, much of it in a coma. She has fortunately avoided severe after-effects and now, with her husband and son, is trying to find answers to what happened to her, as she tells us here.

975 people took part in our campaign to walk 8,000 steps in January and raised an amazing £55,731. Thank you to all who took part!

Moving in the right direction
Sam, from Abbeymead in Gloucester, fell ill in 2019 with what she thought was the start of a cold. But the then 23-year-old went from bad to worse and was admitted to hospital where meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia was diagnosed.

Team Brightsides’ epic row across the Atlantic for Meningitis Now is a huge success
Meningitis Now Trustee Rod Adlington, along with three other crew members, have successfully rowed 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in memory of Rod’s son, Barney, who died of meningitis aged three. They have raised an amazing £146,000.

Scaling new heights in memory of Lloyd
Climbing one of the tallest peaks in England is a challenge, but to climb 214 in a year is another league entirely. And that’s what a group of family and friends are doing in tribute to Lloyd Sutton, who sadly died last October from bacterial meningitis, aged just 18.
