Making a splash with Turtle Tots

In August, Josie took to the skies and completed a Wing Walk to raise funds for Meningitis Now. She has raised over £2,000, an incredible amount which will go towards supporting those impacted by meningitis.

Meningitis Now concerned by sharp rise in meningitis cases
Meningitis Now is concerned following the release of new data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) showing a significant rise in cases of invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) across England over the past 12 months. Data from the rest of the UK shows similar trends.

Making sense in sign
Author and journalist Jenny Froude recently shared the uplifting story of her youngest son, Tom who had meningitis as a baby and became deaf as a result. At first Jenny was overwhelmed by this, but over time she became inspired, as signing made sense of a world silenced by meningitis for Tom. Jenny wrote a book on her son’s uplifting journey and the insights into family life with a deaf child.

Learning to live with hearing loss after meningitis
On Tuesday 10 September we are hosting an online support event aiming to help adults who have hearing loss as a result of meningitis or care for a child who has hearing loss as a result of meningitis. The lead speaker at this event is Rebecca Mansell, CEO of British Deaf Association who became Deaf after having meningitis as a child. Rebecca shares her story here.

Charles S's Story
Student Charles, from London, was 24 when he fell ill with flu like symptoms, including a stiff neck and photophobia. He ignored the symptoms because he hadn’t heard of viral meningitis, but his mother quickly realised something was not right and called 999. Charles is now one of our volunteer ambassadors and tells his story here.

Climbing Mont Blanc to raise meningitis awareness
Scott from Wales is climbing Mont Blanc, Western Europe's highest mountain, next month to raise funds for Meningitis Now in honor of his daughter, Noa-Rose, who survived meningitis. Scott and his wife Emma share their story here.
