Fatigue is commonly experienced following meningitis. It is more than feeling tired. Fatigue occurs when tiredness can’t be relieved by sleep or rest. It can be overwhelming, affecting our physical and mental wellbeing and impacting on daily life.

This Keep Connected session is for those who have had meningitis in the last 18 months and are also experiencing fatigue after meningitis. It will be a relaxed and supportive session which will provide you with information and resources to help you to manage fatigue.

This session will focus on:

  • What is fatigue and how it can affect us?
  • Causes of fatigue
  • Self-help strategies and signposting to manage fatigue
  • An opportunity to have a discussion, share experiences of fatigue after meningitis and any tips and strategies that you may have found helpful

This online event, presented over Zoom, will be hosted by Meningitis Now Helpline and Information Nurse Manager, Claire Donovan, and Community Support Officer Paul Blackburn.

We aim to have around 6 to 12 attendees joining the session, to allow for a relaxed space and an opportunity for all those who would like to join in the discussions to do so. This Keep Connected event would not be suitable for anyone who has had a confirmed diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome or ME.
